Free and flexible by bike

In 2024, we will conduct several different bike tests where we give you a chance to avoid queues and try commuting with an electric bike. The aim is to get more people to discover a sustainable and flexible way to travel.

Electric bike trial

Västtrafik continually offers residents in Västra Götaland to try new habits through an electric bike trial. You can borrow an electric bike for a couple of weeks and hopefully let your car rest.

The next application period opens on 10 April, when residents of the city of Mölndal and Masthugget in Gothenburg can apply for a place in three different periods.

Registration for Borås is closed and selected participants have been contacted. We offer two trial periods:

  • Test period one runs from 12 March to 23 April 2024.
  • Test period two runs from 24 April to 3 June 2024.

Registration for Mölndal is closed and selected participants have been contacted. We offer two trial periods:

  • Test period one runs from 4 June to 2 July.
  • Test period two runs from 2 July to 13 August.

Try electric bike in Masthugget and Linnéstaden

The application period to borrow an electric bike for residents of Masthugget and Linnéstaden in Gothenburg is open from 10 April to 2 June. We offer a trial period:

  • The trial period runs between 14 August and 25 September.

Folding bike test

The project allows participants to borrow a folding bike for a period of about four weeks. The advantage of a folding bike is that you can cycle to your stop, fold the bike and take it on board, travel by public transport and cycle on to your destination.

Right now we are looking for test cyclists for folding bikes in the municipality of Mariestad. This summer, employees at Skövde Hospital will receive the offer.
